John Hulswit

John Hulswit is an undergraduate student at Michigan State University (MSU) in East Lansing, Michigan, studying political science and journalism with a concentration in international reporting. At MSU, John has worked as a research assistant with Professor Manuel Chavez, a Salzburg Global Faculty member, where he contributed to research on Latin American representation in United States news, and media/news avoidance within the Western world. John is also a recipient of the Stan Soffin Endowed Journalism Scholarship from the MSU department of journalism. John's academic interests include international media, foreign relations, American politics, and crisis reporting. Outside of his academic work, he also enjoys baking, gardening, thrifting, and exploring other small arts and crafts.
