Jose Isagani "J.I." Janairo is a full professor at the biology department of De La Salle University in Manila, Philippines, where he also serves as the head of the Biological Control Research Unit under the Center for Natural Sciences and Environmental Research. He is a lead author of the Global Environment Outlook-6 for Youth Asia-Pacific published by the United Nations Environment Programme, and a recipient of the 2019 ASEAN Youth Eco-Champions Award given by the ASEAN Environment Ministers. J.I.'s research interests focus on environmental and sustainable chemistry, which include microplastics, plastic waste management, sustainable pest management, and machine learning applications to green chemistry. J.I. earned his Ph.D. in chemical sciences from Hokkaido University as a Japanese Government Scholar.
