Jessica Haxhi

Supervisor of World Languages, New Haven Public Schools, United States of America

Jessica Haxhi has been the Supervisor of World Languages for New Haven Public Schools in Connecticut since 2013, overseeing 85 world language teachers and seven languages in 40 schools. She is currently serving as immediate Past President of ACTFL, the national U.S. K-16 world language teachers organization, and is a former president of the American Association of Teachers of Japanese. Jessica taught Japanese for 20 years in grades PreK-5 and teaches world language methods courses at local Connecticut universities. Jessica is interested in improving instruction of and access to language education in the U.S. and beyond, and has worked on national standards, proficiency, curriculum, assessment, and Seal of Biliteracy projects, as well as state and local initiatives related to student engagement and technology. She received a B.A. from Duke University, an M.A. from Saint Joseph College, and a 6th Year in Educational Leadership from Central Connecticut State University.
