Javaid Rehman

Professor of Law, Brunel University, Uxbridge (invited)

Javaid REHMAN is a professor of law and deputy head of the Brunel Law School at Brunel University, West London. He has taught international law at the Universities of Hull, Leeds, and Ulster; and has been a visiting professor at various institutions in the United States, Japan, Pakistan, and France. He has wide-ranging experience in legal education in the United Kingdom and regularly advises on the development of higher education both in the United Kingdom and South Asia. The author and editor of seven books and over fifty articles, Professor Rehman has written extensively on various aspects of Islamic law, international terrorism, and international human rights law. He is a member of the International Law Association (ILA) and since 2000 has been a member of the ILA Committee on Islamic Law and International Law. He is the rapporteur for the International Law Association's Committee on Islamic Law and International Law; the editor of The Journal of Islamic State Practices and International Law. Professor Rehman received a Ph.D. in international law.
