Ingrid Boas is assistant professor at the Environmental Policy Group at Wageningen University. Her research is based in the field of climate governance, with a focus on the topic of climate migration and climate security. She teaches on the themes of climate governance and governance for sustainable cities. She earned a Ph.D. in international relations, obtained from the University of Kent (UK) and funded by the UK Economic Social Research Council. Her Ph.D. thesis was on climate migration and security, and formed a basis of a book that she will publish with Routledge in 2015. Other relevant publications on climate migration include, amongst which, a proposal of a Protocol on the Protection, Resettlement and Recognition of Climate Migrants developed in collaboration with Prof. Frank Biermann, published in a chapter with Cambridge University Press and in Global Environmental Politics with MIT Press. Dr. Boas has also published on the issue of climate migration in the context of India, Bangladesh and in relation to the issue of corruption (published in Critical Studies on Security; Asian and Pacific Migration Journal; the Global Corruption Report by Transparency International with Cambridge University Press; and in The Encyclopedia of Sustainability). She served in the expert committee that helped finalizing the drafting of the Peninsular Principles on Climate Displacement Within States; she is research fellow with the Earth System Governance Network; and sits on the Management Committee of the EU COST ACTION on climate change and migration.
