Gudrun Wacker is at present senior fellow in the Research Division Asia at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik, SWP) in Berlin, a think tank providing advice to the German government and parliament. Her research focuses on Chinese foreign and security policy, especially EU-China relations, Sino-Russian and Sino-Central Asian relations; China and the Asia-Pacific region and security arrangements in the Asia-Pacific. She has published on these issues as well as on China's regional and global role and on domestic developments such as minority policy and Internet censorship in China. For the last seven years she has also organized the "Berlin Conference on Asian Security" (BCAS) held annually at SWP in Berlin and co-organized an annual track two dialogue between EU and China on cross-strait relations with the Shanghai Institutes for International Relations. Dr. Wacker studied Sinology in Berlin, Tuebingen and Taipeh.
