George T. Frampton, Jr. is a distinguished senior fellow at the Atlantic Council and director of the Council's Transatlantic Climate Policy Program. He is the former chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality, and assistant secretary of the interior. George was senior of counsel at Covington & Burling LLP, in the clean energy practice, and prior to that president of The Wilderness Society. As an assistant special prosecutor on the Watergate Special Prosecution Force, from 1973 to 1975, he worked on the grand jury investigation and trial of President Nixon's top aides in the Watergate cover-up. He graduated from Yale College with a degree in Physics, the London School of Economics with a degree in advanced economic theory, and Harvard Law School, where he was managing editor of the Harvard Law Review. He served as law clerk to the Hon. Harry A. Blackmun, U.S. Supreme Court, OT 1971.
