Fumino Sugiyama is a transgender activist in Japan. He is CEO of New Canvas in Tokyo and LGBT advisor for Shibuya district in Tokyo in becoming Japan's first municipality to officially recognize same-sex partnerships. He is the founder and president of the non-profit organization Heart School, founder of Colorful Station, Japan's first LGBT support center, and served as president of Tokyo Rainbow week. Mr. Sugiyama holds a B.A. from Waseda University, Faculty of Education, and an M.A. from Waseda's Graduate School of Education.
