I am Frankie Wong Ho-Chun, currently studying in the Chinese University of Hong Kong, major in journalism and communication and minor in global studies. It is my pleasure to participate in this summer's Salzburg Academy on Media and Global Change. Globalization has empowered media in affecting domestic and global issues with a strongest influence ever. I believe it is the responsibility of our generation to make good use of it in improving our world. As a native Hongkonger I witnessed the interference between global dynamics and local events. The Snowden case demonstrated Hong Kong's political uniqueness while the Umbrella movement showcased the democratization as a universal value embraced in the former colony, Hong Kong is always the headlines in global media. I hope humans can utilize media as an agent for global development, and it is my ambition using this force to contribute to my society by bridging Hong Kong and the rest of the world. This summer is no exception. Coming from the stereotyped political apathetic financial hub such as Hong Kong, I wish to bring the essences of the humanistic harbor city to everyone. With the understanding of Hong Kong and East Asia, I look forward to bringing my piece of the puzzle and put the picture of our earth together.
