Evie Murray

CEO, Earth in Common, United Kingdom
Evie is the founder of Earth in Common. Alongside campaigning on the issues of food sovereignty and the right to food, under Evie's stewardship, Earth in Common has pioneered the concept of urban crofts with their suite of integrated projects. She has informed the organization's involvement in a multi-partner project in Malawi, and developed the concept of restorative climate justice, which is aimed at redressing power imbalance between the Global North and South, championing the contributions indigenous peoples can make to combating climate change, and promoting climate resilience. At the core of everything Evie does is her belief in the importance of community and connecting people, especially children, to the natural world. Evie initially qualified as an addictions counsellor, and later set out to tackle issues, such as nature-deficit disorder, biodiversity loss, and the shortcomings of the agro-industrial food system. The obvious benefits led, in 2013, to Evie founding the educational and environmental charity Earth in Common. She and the charity went on to win several awards, and Earth in Common moved on to better reflect its local, national and international work.
