Esther Wang'ombe is the Director of Renewable Energy (Energy Conservation and Climate Change) at the State Department for Energy, Ministry of Energy and Petroleum in Kenya. In this role, she coordinates the Kenya Energy Sector and Environment Social Responsibility Program Fund and oversees climate change activities. She has participated in the preparation of Kenya's National Climate Change Action Plan, the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC), and the Long-Term Strategies (LTS) aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions. She is also a member of the council of the Global Climate Action Partnership (GCAP). Her academic background includes a BSc. in Forestry from Moi University, Kenya, a master's degree in environmental studies from Kenyatta University, Kenya, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Forestry for Rural Development from ITC, Netherlands. Additionally, she has completed Strategic Leadership courses from the Kenya School of Government and numerous climate change-related courses.
