Ph.D. Candidate and Gates-Cambridge, University of Cambridge, UK
Emma Glennon is a Ph.D. candidate and Gates-Cambridge scholar at the University of Cambridge. Her research focuses on the ecology and epidemiology of emerging viruses, with a focus on detection of early-stage outbreaks. Her recent work in this area has included estimating rates of Ebola virus detection, developing metrics to describe the syndromic detectability of rare diseases, and developing algorithms for estimating the causes of unusual symptom clusters. She has also co-founded a social enterprise, Univursa Health, to build these algorithms into tools to inform outbreak response and guide early data collection. Previously, Emma worked with the Public Health Foundation of India on a Fulbright research grant to study antimicrobial resistance. She holds an A.B. in Ecology with a certificate in Global Health and Health Policy from Princeton University.
