Irina Diana Madroane is an associate professor of applied linguistics and cultural studies at the West University of Timisoara, Romania, where she started out as a junior lecturer in 2002, and a member of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Gender Studies at the same university. She specializes in critical discourse studies, practical argumentation and media rhetoric. She is the author of the book "Romanians in the right-wing British press: A critical discourse analysis approach" (2014, Editura Universit??ii de Vest) and of studies published in national and international journals and volumes. She has co-edited a special issue in Critical Discourse Studies (2017) and a volume, "Debating Migration as a Public Problem: National Publics and Transnational Fields" (2018, Peter Lang). Since 2020, she has become the editor-in-chief of the Gender Studies journal (De Gruyter). She has a PhD in philology from West University of Timi?oara, Romania and an MA in sociology from Lancaster University, UK.
