DeJoiry McKenzie-Simmons is an alumnus of Howard University, receiving a bachelor of arts in political science and strategic, legal, and management communications. During his time at Howard, DeJoiry was involved in the student government and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). He currently serves as the Vice-Chair of the NAACP International Affairs Committee as a member of the national board of directors. DeJoiry is originally from St. Peter, Barbados, but spent his formative years in Saginaw, Michigan.
