Claudia Roth is co-chair of Alliance 90/The Greens in Germany. She has been a member of the Green Party since 1985. In 1989, she was elected to the European Parliament where she served for two terms. In 1998, Ms. Roth became a member of the German Bundestag where she chaired the committee on human rights and humanitarian aid. Her main interests lie in humanities and social equality. In 2003 she was appointed Commissioner for human rights and humanitarian aid by the German federal government, a position she held until 2004.
