Claudia Bausewein is the director of the Department for Palliative Medicine at Munich University Hospital and chair for palliative medicine at Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich. She is interested in, and running projects on, the provision of palliative care across conditions and settings, complexity and outcome measurement in palliative care, policy making, advance care planning and symptom management. She has been involved in hospice and palliative care in Germany for almost 30 years, has worked at the Cicely Saunders Institute at King's College London for several years and was on the Board of Directors of the European Association for Palliative Care from 2011 to 2015. She gained her Ph.D. and her M.Sc. in palliative care from King's College London.
