Clark Lombardi

Assistant Professor of Law, Washington University, Seattle

Clark LOMBARDI is associate professor of law at the University of Washington in Seattle where he teaches Islamic law, comparative law, and constitutional law. He has also taught courses at Columbia University, New York University, the National University of Singapore, and the National Islamic University of Indonesia in Yogyakarta. He is currently a Carnegie Scholar in Islamic Studies and a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He has studied, worked and completed research in numerous Muslim countries including Egypt, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Indonesia, and has recently advised the governments of Afghanistan and Iraq on constitutionalism and various aspects of law reform. His recent publications include State law as Islamic law in Modern Egypt (2006), and he is currently working on a project that compares judicial interpretation of Islamic law in several national legal systems. Dr. Lombardi has a B.A. in religion from Princeton University, a J.D. from Columbia University School of Law, and a Ph.D. in religion (Islamic studies) from Columbia University.
