Raj Thamotheram is a well-recognised thought-leader in the field of long-term, sustainable investing. He has led ESG teams, first at The Universities Superannuation Scheme, and then at AXA Investment Managers. Dr. Thamotheram has now gone independent to focus on the opportunities and threats related to man-made blackswan events, which are increasing in frequency and impact. He is president of The Network for Sustainable Financial Market, co-founder of Preventable Surprises and the Positive Deviants Club and an independent adviser, mainly to asset owners. He writes a regular column in Investment & Pensions Europe and has been nominated, by Global Proxy Watch, as "one of the 10 most influential figures in the corporate governance field". Prior to working in the City, he was a consultant in corporate responsibility, worked in NGOs and originally trained and practiced as a medical doctor.
