César E. Abadía-Barrero is a Colombian activist and academic. He has been a professor of Anthropology, Human Rights, and Public Health at different universities including the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and, currently, the University of Connecticut. He is a member of Red SaludPaz, a network of universities and civil society organizations that support the peace accord in Colombia. He has conducted various participatory action research and multi-method research projects on health and social security programs and policies, the judicialization of the right to health, social mobilization, and decolonial health. He is currently studying the relationships between processes of capital accumulation and the destruction of human biology and is conducting research with indigenous and peasant Amazonian communities on Buen Vivir (i.e., Good Living). He directs the Buen Vivir and Collective Healing initiative, which seeks to support initiatives in which rituals, arts, and ancestral knowledge heal colonial wounds.
