Carlota Nelson is a Madrid-based filmmaker and director of the groundbreaking feature documentary Brain Matters, which explores early childhood brain development. She is a member of the Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences of Spain. Carlota's documentary work spans global social and cultural issues, including art and apartheid in South Africa, censorship in Kuala Lumpur, and recidivism in women's prisons in the United States. Her first feature documentary, Anclados, which tells the story of a Russian trawler crew quarantined in a Spanish port after the collapse of the Soviet Union, premiered across Europe in 2010 to critical acclaim. Most recently, she premiered Cristina Garcia Rodero - Eyes of the Soul, a portrait of the iconic Spanish photographer.
