Carlos Torres Vila was appointed chairman of BBVA and of the BBVA Foundation in December 2018. In 2008, Carlos joined BBVA as Head of Strategy and Corporate Development, and member of the bank's Management Committee. In 2014 he was appointed Head of Digital Banking, until 2015 when he became Chief Executive Officer of the bank. He previously worked at McKinsey & Company for 12 years (partner from 1997). He joined Endesa as Corporate Director of Strategy and member of its Executive committee and also became CFO.He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Institute of International Finance (IIF), the International Business Council (IBC) of the World Economic Forum, the European Financial Services Roundtable (EFR), within it he chairs the European Banking Group, the International Advisory Panel of the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), and the Institut International d'Études Bancaires (IIEB). He also represents BBVA at the International Monetary Conference (IMC).Carlos graduated with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and B.S in Management from MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology?)?, where he later also earned a M.S at the MIT Sloan School of management. He also Graduated in law from UNED (Spain).
