Assaf Anyamba is a principal earth scientist with Universities Space Research Association) at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, Maryland, USA. He leads research and applications development projects for Defense Health Agency -Armed Forces Health Surveillance Branch- Global Emerging Infections Surveillance on Rift Valley fever Monitoring, Mapping and Prediction, USDA/Foreign Agricultural Service Global Agricultural Monitoring project, Defense Threat Reduction Agency - Chemical and Biological Technologies Department's Bio surveillance ecosystem on Global Chikungunya Mapping and Risk Prediction. He has published 65 peer-reviewed publications in a wide variety journal. He is a recipient of USRA President's Individual Scientific Excellence Award, FDA Collaboration Award, Interagency Partnership Award from the Federal Laboratory Consortium for Technology Transfer, USDA ARS Technology Transfer Award, NASA Group Achievement Award - Goddard Applied Sciences Team, Certificate of Contribution to the World Health Organization, and John I. Davidson President's Award for Practical Papers from the American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing. His research interests are focused on understanding land surface footprints of El Niño Southern Oscillation from satellite vegetation measurements, applications of satellite data in agricultural monitoring and ecologically coupled diseases.
