Asami Terajima
Reporter, The Kyiv Independent, Ukraine / Japan
Asami Terajima is a reporter at the Kyiv Independent covering the war in Ukraine. She focuses on front-line reporting, writing stories about the realities of the war and the increasingly tough battlefield conditions that Ukrainian soldiers are enduring. She is the winner of the 2023 George Weidenfeld Prize, awarded for "excellent investigative and courageous research activities" as part of Germany's Axel Springer Prize. Originally from Japan, Terajima moved to Ukraine during childhood and completed her bachelor's degree in Missouri, U.S.A.
