Chief Executive, Young Power in Social Action (YPSA)
Arifur Rahman is the chief executive of Young Power in Social Action (YPSA), a registered non-government voluntary social development organization, of which he was the main founder back in 1985 (UN International Youth Year). In different capacities, he has been engaged with various national and international development networking and campaigns. He is one of the active policy leaders of SUPRO (Campaign for Good Governance), BATA (Bangladesh Anti Tobacco Alliance), Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC), Program with and for Youth Network (PROYOUTH Network). He leads different social development programs and plays a key role as development activist in Bangladesh. He has played a major role during frequent natural disasters in the coastal regions of Bangladesh. Mr. Rahman and his organization provide conduct series of research and promote climate displacement issues in Bangladesh and in the international arena. They also work towards an environmentally safe ship breaking industry in Bangladesh and a safe working place for its thousands of workers. Mr. Rahman is a freelance writer for different newspapers and development publications and serves as the chief editor of Social Action (a development publication) and Social Change (an ISSN registered social development journal). He is the chief organizer of the RADIO SAGOR GIRI -Government approved first community radio station located in the coastal area. He holds an M.Sc. in political science from Chittagong University of Bangladesh and is pursuing a master's degree in governance studies from Dhaka University of Bangladesh.
