Andrea Athanas is a program design manager, and agriculture and energy senior program design officer for Eastern Africa for the African Wildlife Foundation. Bringing together a background in environmental assessment and economics, Ms. Athanas advises and manages projects in agriculture, biodiversity, conservation, and sustainability. Prior to joining AWF, she worked as a senior program officer for the Energy Ecosystems and Livelihoods Business and Biodiversity Programme. Additionally, she worked in the economic unit of the World Conservation Union and as the biodiversity advisor to Shell International. In these positions, she helped to link together business and biodiversity, especially as it relates to sustainability, conservation, and the impact of big business on biodiversity. Ms. Athanas has a M.Sc. in environment assessment and evaluation from the London School of Economics. Additionally, she has a B.A. in economics and a B.A. in English from University of Michigan.
