Amanda has dedicated her career to reforming the justice system at the individual as well as systemic level. She currently serves as a Senior Director on the Court Reform team at the Center for Justice Innovation (CJI), a community justice organization that builds safety and racial justice, in partnership with communities, legal systems, and the people most impacted. In her current role, Amanda oversees the design and implementation of a wide range of court- and community-based programs that work to enhance public safety, promote healing, and reduce the harms of the legal system. Previously at CJI, Amanda served as the Project Director for the renowned Red Hook Community Justice Center, the first multi-jurisdictional community court in the country. Amanda began her career as a public defender at The Bronx Defenders, a holistic defender office representing people charged with all levels of criminal offenses. She went on to serve as a trainer and supervisor during her tenure there. Amanda also served as the Senior Director of Court Advocacy at the Fortune Society, leading a team of court-based advocates who offered alternative-to-incarceration programs for individuals facing felony charges. She holds her undergraduate degree in public policy from Brown University and her law degree from New York University School of Law. She also currently serves as an adjunct professor at Cardozo School of Law.
