Fukuyama speaks to participants at the 'Restoring the Public Trust' session

Political scientist outlines his view on effective policy execution

Francis Fukuyama has suggested the failure of governments to deliver public services has undermined belief in democracy.

In our latest podcast, Mr Fukuyama speaks to Salzburg Global about the primary challenges public administrations face on a global scale but why restoring trust shouldn’t be the main objective.

Francis Fukuyama is Olivier Nomellini Senior Fellow at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies at Stanford University.

He’s widely known for his work on governance, democratization and international political economy.

A board member of The Volcker Alliance, Mr Fukuyama recently spoke at Salzburg Global to participants attending the session on ‘Restoring the Public’s Trust: Delivering on Public Policy’.

As part of his talk, the author of The End of History and the Last Man described an equilibrium between low quality public administration and a mistrust in government.
