Our Internship Testimonials: 2025

2025

Interesting conversations with open-minded people in inspiring surroundings made my Salzburg Global experience unforgettable. Working with the Communications team, I enjoyed the challenge of sharing the expertise of Fellows from diverse backgrounds digitally. The welcoming, thoughtful, and supportive nature of the entire team encouraged me to learn, ask questions, and grow. Salzburg Global truly opened up a world of possibilities by instilling a collaborative, multifaceted approach to my life and career.

Aditi Damaraju
Digital Communications Intern (September 1 – November 29, 2025)

Salzburg Global's communications internship has let me expand my expertise beyond my comfort zones. The tasks that were given were very intellectually engaging and stimulating as I was able to sit through many sessions and talk to fellows. Every session is different. It is important to not think of these sessions as boring. Every session serves their purpose in our world. When you sit down with a fellow, just prepare to have an open mind, reserve your judgement and listen to what fellows have to say. Always ask questions, be curious, get to know people and you will eventually find a way to explore what is out there.

Aside from the rigorous knowledge, expertise and connections you get, you will experience the wonderful hospitality of the Austrian community and Salzburg Global family. Every morning when you walk around the lake you will have Austrians greet you, and so do the wonderful staff of Salzburg Global. I was very blessed when Salzburg Global helped me through the unfortunate experience of having an emergency surgery a week before I finished my internship.

I encourage you to apply, even if you feel like you don't qualify and don't fit the criteria. Just get your resume out there and you would be surprised what opportunity it might unlock. I wish every work place would give the same kind of experience Salzburg Global gave me. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Dea Safira
Communications Intern (September 1 - November 29, 2025)

My three-month internship at Salzburg Global was a transformative experience that shaped both my professional outlook and personal growth in profound ways.

Supporting seven seminar programs across four pillars, I witnessed firsthand how Salzburg Global creates rare spaces where multidisciplinary professionals from diverse backgrounds tackle complex global challenges together. What struck me most was the organization's unique ability to foster genuine dialogue where ideas didn't just get discussed, but truly came alive through courage, creativity, and collective effort.

Beyond the professional skills I developed in program coordination and facilitation, I gained something far more valuable: a deeper understanding of the kind of work I want to dedicate myself to. I discovered my passion for creating environments where people feel safe to exchange ideas, learn from one another, and build meaningful connections across differences.

I also met so many people who embodied the qualities I aspire to carry forward. Open-minded curiosity, the ability to listen deeply across differences, and genuine respect for emerging voices. They showed me what it means to love the process of change and to believe in our collective capacity to shape a better world.

This internship reaffirmed a core belief I hold: we become whole through the people we journey with. I'm deeply grateful to everyone who supported, encouraged, and walked beside me during those unforgettable months. The lessons I learned and the connections I made will continue to guide me as I pursue work that brings people together to create change.

The library internship is such a unique and full experience. Given the history and mission of the library, it was the perfect meld of library and museum work. I felt that I had a real say in helping shape the library and its collections. The library intern position is also beneficial as I got to witness how each program interacted with the space.

“My internship at Salzburg Global Seminar was both professionally rewarding and personally transformative. In a supportive and collaborative environment, I worked on diverse programs that brought together inspiring people from different cultural backgrounds. These programs not only deepened discussions on global issues from multiple perspectives but also gave me valuable career insights and personal growth. Salzburg Global truly plays a vital role in connecting people across cultures and fostering meaningful dialogue in today’s interconnected world.”

“My time at Salzburg Global has been both fruitful. Coming from Nigeria, a country with a much warmer climate, arriving in Salzburg's cold environment was quite a shift. But while the air was cold, the people made me feel warm. The staff welcomed me not just as an intern but as a colleague, and that made all the difference. One of the most rewarding parts of this experience was the opportunity to engage with Fellows from all over the world, each bringing unique perspectives from a wide range of sectors. Equally enriching were the insightful conversations I had with my fellow interns. Working in such an inclusive and inspiring environment has reinforced my passion for non-profit and humanitarian communications. There is so much more I could say, but one thing is certain: Salzburg Global, you welcomed me as an intern, and someday you will welcome me again as a Fellow.”

“Salzburg Global is an extraordinary and inspiring place! I have had the most fulfilling three months of working experience, and I can confidently say that this has been the most rewarding part of my career journey so far. Owing to the tireless support of the teams, every project I worked on was a unique learning process. The most rewarding experience of my internship was being part of a truly international and inspiring community. Collaborating with peers from all over the world provided me with exposure to an array of perspectives. I’m especially happy that I could bring a Central Asian and particularly Kyrgyzstan’s perspective to the table. I sincerely hope that more individuals from the region will participate as fellows and interns, as Salzburg Global is a truly transformative platform. Thank you once again. P.S. Already missing the desserts from the Schloss!”

"So much of the work at Salzburg Global is rewarding, but one aspect that I found particularly rewarding was getting to work hard on the preparation for programs with colleagues on the Program Team and then getting to see the fruits of our labor when the program actually took place. I felt that this style of working created bonds between the Program Team, which was often a highlight in any given program, and made the hard parts of the work more fun and manageable.

"I always felt lucky to be able to participate in very unique sessions and discussions, and it contributed to my motivation in the preparation work, for I knew what I was working towards. The joy of working on programs at Salzburg Global was that no matter what the topic was, they all proved to be incredibly interesting and beneficial to my understanding of the world and specific issues. Another aspect that I truly loved was getting to know Fellows during coffee breaks, over meals, and in free time. The people really are what make Salzburg Global so special, and being able to spend so much time with Fellows has introduced me to amazing people and exciting ideas and projects. The program work was especially fulfilling for me.

“Lastly, Salzburg Global would be nowhere without the exceptional staff assembled here. I always felt so welcomed and like a true part of the team, a feat I think is not easy and shows the way staff go out of their way to include and engage the interns. Working across pillars allowed me to work with as many people in the organization as possible, which I really loved. I would encourage new interns to go outside of their comfort zones and work on programs that they might not initially pick, because the programs can definitely surprise you, and every time I did this, I learned something valuable and was able to work with other team members. The way that my internship combined learning useful skills, working with great people, participating in interesting programs, and meeting Fellows made it an incredibly rewarding experience and one that I will miss, but I will take what I learned here out into the world with me and in my future positions.”

Amelia Levitt-Smith

“If given the opportunity, one should definitely spend some time working at Salzburg Global. The library is a unique space and the needs of Salzburg Global allow you to be creative and think critically about what library projects best suit their needs. The library internship was an independent experience that allowed me to think and learn about how small libraries are managed and function. This internship gave me the opportunity to engage with people from all over the world and gain a valuable work experience.”

Being surrounded by colleagues and Fellows from all different walks of life, with all kinds of different views, helped me view life and situations from more angles than I ever could have known existed on my own. I was out of my comfort zone in an unfamiliar country, and yet everyone made it feel like home, and gave me a wonderful place to grow and learn!”
