Dr Peter Lachman - M.D. MPH. M.B.B.Ch., BA, FRCPCH, FRCPI, FCP (SA) Dr Lachman is the new CEO of ISQUA, the International Society for Quality in Healthcare, having taken up the post in May 2016. He was a 2005-2006 Quality Improvement Fellow at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement in Cambridge Massachusetts, sponsored by The Health Foundation. On his return he developed a model of care to decrease variability with 24/7 consultant delivered care at the Royal Free Hospital where he was a consultant paediatrician. At Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children he introduced and developed the transformation and patient safety program and was a Deputy Medical Director there from 2006 to 2016. Previously he was Consultant Paediatrician and Clinical Director of Women and Children's Services at the North West London Hospitals Trust. He helped accomplish the merger of two hospitals, implemented clinical governance standards, developed a new model of ambulatory paediatric services, redesigned facilities, and developed clinical services for children with complex and chronic disabling conditions. He trained in South Africa at the Red Cross War Memorial Children Hospital in Cape Town, where he was a Consultant Paediatrician and the head of child development service. Dr Lachman's interests are in patient safety and in designing services that are safe and patient friendly at the same time. His main interests are the transformation of complex organizations; understanding the constraints of change; engaging professionals in change; developing leaders at an early time in their careers; management of complex conditions; and the political environment needed for change. He is Lead International Faculty at the RCPI Leadership and Quality programme in Ireland working to develop clinical leaders in QI and with organisations in change for improvement. He is Chairperson of the Paediatric International Patient Safety and Quality Community (PIPSQC). He was National Clinical Lead for the RCPCH SAFE, a Health Foundation funded programme aimed at decreasing deterioration in acutely unwell children from 2014-2016.
