Doron Rabinovici

Writer and Historian, Austria

Doron Rabinovici is a writer and historian. His work includes short stories, novels, essays and scholarly studies. He was born in Tel Aviv and has lived in Vienna since 1964. In Austria, he repeatedly takes a prominent stand against racism, right-wing extremism and Antisemitism. Publications include, amongst others: Instanzen der Ohnmacht. Wien 1938-1945. Der Weg zum Judenrat; (J?discher Verlag bei Suhrkamp - 2000); Andernorts. Novel; (Suhrkamp ? 2010) Neuer Antisemitismus? Fortsetzung einer globalen Debatte; edited together with Christian Heilbronn and Natan Sznaider, (suhrkamp edition - 2019); Die Einstellung. novel; (Suhrkamp - 2022); 2013 - 2015: Die letzten Zeugen (The last Witnesses). A theater project of the Vienna Burgtheater in cooperation with Matthias Hartmann. Rabinovici is a member of the Academy of Sciences and Literature in Mainz. For his work he has been awarded, among others, the Anton Wildgans Prize, the Jean Am?ry Award and the Honorary Prize of the Austrian Book Trade for Tolerance in Thought and Action.
