Tessa Espinosa

Student, Nevada State College, USA

Tessa Espinosa was the 2022-2023 student body president of Nevada State College and has been involved in student advocacy since the beginning of her college career in 2017. Within her position she was able to help provide funds to students and organizations on campus and through her advocacy, she was able to attend conferences and bring back the information to guide students. A unique way Tessa was able to mentor her peers was through interactive workshops, which included activities replicated from conferences to encourage leadership skills amongst her fellow student body. She also worked with the library at her university to start a book program that brings out students and professors into a space where they discuss a carefully chosen reading from educators that deep dive into problems and issues faced in the world. Tessa was also able to be a part of a Wells Fargo grant, which aided environmental projects and events within the university. Tessa was an editor for the literary magazine "300 Days of Sun" in which she was a deciding factor in published excerpts. Tessa holds a B.A. in both history and communications and minored in social justice, business, psychology, and sociology from Nevada State College.
