Yiru Chen is a communication student, based in Hong Kong. Since the inception of her undergraduate study, she has been contributed to several local and national news agencies including Southern Weekly. Her long form reporting mainly focuses on international affairs, aiming to provide more diverse lens to Chinese readers. In 2021, she managed to interview Afghanis and Haitians concerned in the reported issues through social media. And she also produced videos and articles on Afghanistan's turmoil that grabbed the newspaper headline and attracted 100000+ views online. Prior to that, she was also actively took part in social works, she recorded and branded the operation rescue for cleft lip and palate, and volunteered to be a charity ambassador and raised money for Hangzhou Yiyou Clothes Recycling project. She holds a B. A. in international communication at the University of Nottingham, and will obtain a M.A. in global communication at the Chinese University of Hong Kong later this year.
