Keith Cohen - Head of Service - Lewisham Youth Offending Service- winner of MJ Awards 2020 for Workforce transformation. In response to high levels of youth violence and re-offending the Youth Justice Service in Lewisham has developed an evidenced based whole systems model by applying the theories of childhood trauma, restorative approaches and anti racism within the context of safeguarding. This model has contributed to significant reductions in children and young people entering the youth justice system, lower rates of reoffending and reduced numbers of incidents of serious violence leading to less use of custody. I have over 30 years experience working in the criminal justice system in England was a practising Probation Officer and Practice Teacher. More recently I lead a Resettlement Consortium in South London improving practice and outcomes for children and young people leaving custody.
