Irene Nagudi

Team Lead, Kichini Gardeners Initiative, Uganda

Irene Nagudi is a gardener and conservation educator, founder of Kichini Gardeners Initiative, a registered non-profit organization in Uganda using sustainable gardening to connect young people to nature conservation and civic responsibility. Working along with young people especially children in soils makes her feel alive. The Kichini Gardeners Initiative wants to learn and conserve our soils and species for the generations of today and tomorrow. As an environmental scientist, Irene is involved in education and awareness about sustainable practices like plastics waste management, climate change and biodiversity conservation through campaigns, petitions, gardening and school outreaches. She is a business instructor with Work For Life in groups of young people and women, to start businesses and sustain them. A social change Advocate for community development under MOGI Global Leadership school. She is a Peace Ambassador and educator, under Extremely Together Uganda chapter and a Kofi Annan Changemaker 2021. Every young person should be part of the solution to break bias in community. She is a mentor to out of school adolescent girls in slum setting, think and act positively as they transition into adulthood.
