Mindy Watts is a principal at Interface Studio, a small but mighty planning and urban design firm based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. Interface strives to make planning and design accessible to all audiences with a style that is approachable, artistic, playful, and intended to welcome the public into the planning process. We listen to people from all walks of life, we research, we draw, and we make many maps, mining for data and translating that data into compelling graphics that tell a story about the people and places in which we work. In her 16 years at Interface, Mindy has led projects ranging from citywide policy strategies focused on vacant land, urban agriculture, and equitable park investment strategies, to neighborhood and downtown plans, as well as research projects for community-driven advocacy efforts. Her work has won national awards for excellence in grassroots initiatives and public outreach. Mindy has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in printmaking from Cornell University and a Master of City Planning from the University of Pennsylvania. She serves on the board of The Village of Arts and Humanities in North Philadelphia.
