Stephanie Stanov

Program Coordinator, Park People, Canada

Stephanie Stanov is a program coordinator at Park People, where she supports several of the organizations' programs, including the National Network, TD Park People Grants and the Canadian City Parks Report. She is particularly passionate about data-driven and equity-based community engagement practices that are reflective of local community contexts and neighborhood composition. Stephanie dedicates her spare time to CommunAlley, a project that she co-founded in 2019 to develop an interactive web-map that allows Torontonians to view whether a property is eligible for laneway housing development, thereby reducing the informational barriers homeowners experience when trying to interpret complex by-laws that determine eligibility. She is currently enrolled in a certificate program in applied digital geography and GIS at Ryerson University and is a volunteer for the Ontario Trillium Foundation. Stephanie graduated from the University of Toronto in 2018, where her master's thesis examined vacant land to park transformations in the City of Toronto, focusing specifically on community engagement, activism and political circumstances required to create new parks in the city.
