Benjamin Jonah has served as the secretariat coordinator for the World Urban Parks Association (WUP) since 2017 and has concurrently held several positions in the Alberta Parks and Recreation Association (ARPA) where he currently serves as program coordinator. At ARPA, Ben has led several national projects as well as numerous provincial projects and events to further the recreation and parks sector. As secretariat coordinator for WUP, he has had the opportunity to learn from exceptional leaders to assist them in furthering the vision and mission of the organization, including in areas of communication, event management, project/policy development, and everything in-between. Ben graduated summa cum laude with his bachelor's degree in kinesiology and exercise science from LeTourneau University (Longview, TX) and obtained his graduate degree from the University of New Brunswick (Fredericton, NB) in sport and recreation studies. Ben's graduate thesis aimed to identify implementation strategies among municipalities of Canada's first national document for the recreation sector, the Framework for Recreation.
