Mohammed Dajani Daoudi

Executive Director, Wasatia Academic Institute, Israel

Mohammed S. Dajani Daoudi is the executive director of Wasatia Academic Institute, based in Israel. He taught at several universities and is author of numerous books and articles. Between 2002-2014, Mohammed was the founding director of the American Studies Graduate Program at Al-Quds University. In 2007, he established the Wasatia movement to promote peace, moderation, and reconciliation. In March 2014, he took 27 Palestinian students on an unprecedented educational tour to Auschwitz in Poland. Palestinian condemnation of the trip led to his resignation as director of the American Studies and rector of libraries at Al-Quds University. He received threats, his car was torched, and his security threatened. He then joined the Washington Institute as a Weston Fellow for two years. Presently, he is collaborating with the European University in Flensburg on the European Wasatia Graduate School for Conflict Resolution and Peace. He holds two PhD degrees from the University of South Carolina in Columbia and the University of Texas in Austin. He is a Fellow of Salzburg Global Seminar.
