Adway Mitra

Assistant Professor, Center of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, India

Adway Mitra is an assistant professor at the Center of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. Before that, he was assistant professor at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar. He was also a postdoctoral researcher at the International Center for Theoretical Sciences (ICTS-TIFR), Bangalore between 2016-2018. He was awarded the Airbus India Postdoctoral Fellowship for carrying out research in climate informatics using machine learning to answer questions on climate science. Adway has carried out doctoral research in at the Indian Institute of Science where he worked on video analytics and machine learning. Specifically, he worked on online video summarization. His research work appeared in a leading journal in the field of computer vision and machine learning, and also in the proceedings of several important conferences on computer science. He specifically focused on the Indian Monsoon. Adway received his undergraduate degree in computer science and engineering from Jadavpur University, Kolkata in 2008, and postgraduate degree in the same field from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in 2010.
