Deputy Chief of Party, HOPE Project, Kenan Foundation Asia, Thailand

Sofia Jeana is the deputy chief of party for the HOPE Project, a peacebuilding program in the deep south of Thailand. She focuses on working to bridge the ethnic, cultural, and religious gaps that exist in Thailand's deep south region, through the use of conflict prevention, cross-cultural communication, youth leadership, and direct stakeholder participation. She has organized workshops, training, meetings, and youth-led activities to help bridge such divides and ensure the project is well implemented. She presented the project's progress to USAID headquarters in Washington, DC. Her responsibilities include providing daily management and supervising field coordinators and project administrators to ensure all activities are aligned with a work plan, designing project activities (for instance, youth camp; capacity building for partners, principals, and teachers; and capacity building for teachers and community leaders). She also conducts training regarding youth leadership skills, life skills, youth development, non-violent communication skills, and coaching techniques to students, teachers, and community leaders, while ensuring close collaborative relationships with university partners. In the past, she has also provided assistance to develop youth programs in another region of Thailand. Sofia holds a bachelor's degree from the Population and Social Research Faculty in Mahidol University, Thailand.
