Adam Farquhar

Adam Farquhar is head of digital scholarship at the British Library, London where he and his team enable researchers to take full advantage of the possibilities that digital collections and data present across all formats and subjects. Projects and initiatives focus on establishing effective digital research collaborations and labs, building large scale digital collections, improving data-driven research, integrating data into the scholarly record, and preserving archival material that is in danger of destruction, neglect or physical deterioration. He has been responsible for the national collections of maps, newspapers, photographs, audio, and moving images. Adam has also been responsible for enterprise, solutions, and digital library architecture. He was the principle knowledge management architect for Schlumberger and research scientist at the Stanford University Knowledge Systems Laboratory. He received his Ph.D. in artificial intelligence and computer sciences from the University of Texas at Austin, USA.
