Jamie Cohen is an assistant professor at CUNY Queens College and teaches social media, advertising inequalities, and digital activism. Jamie is also the head of education for Digital Void, an internet literacies project that bridges the gap between digital life and everyday culture. Formerly, he founded and directed an internet studies college degree. He continues to lead teams of students in immersive digital production design projects in Rome, Italy that focus on site-specific storytelling and digital journalism. Jamie is the author of Producing New and Digital Media and Virtual Presenting from Routledge and is currently working on a book about the history of commercial virtual reality. He continues to research and write about internet culture, memes, far-right extremism, and responsible technology. He holds a Ph.D. in cultural and media studies specializing in memes and digital culture.
