Brenda Alegre

Brenda Rodriguez Alegre is currently on the Board of Directors of STRAP (The Society of Transsexual Women Advocates of the Philippines) and the Southeast Asia representative of ILGA Asia. Brenda is a lecturer at the University of Hong Kong where she teaches gender studies, with upcoming publications on transgender people's experiences. As an advocate for LGBTQI , she has been featured as an expert in TV and radio programs. In 2018, Brenda was awarded the LGBT + Public Champion in Hong Kong and participated at the United Nations Human Rights Council in June of that year. Brenda holds a PhD in psychology. Her main research interests are about transgender women. Currently, her research focuses on the intersections of religions, faith and cultural ideologies with genders and sexualities. She is a choir soprano. Brenda participated in the Salzburg Global LGBT & Faith sessions and podcasts.
