Pearl Daruwalla is an out and proud lesbian. She has been associated with the Humsafar Trust, Mumbai since 2015. Pearl has a background in event management but also works as an advocacy officer with different stakeholders such as various corporate and educational institutes, medical professionals, lawyers and government officials in order to sensitize society to LGBTQ issues. Pearl is a core member of Umang, an LGBT support group which provides safe space, support and counselling to the lesbian and bisexual women and transmen. She is also the director of operations at Kashish International Queer Film Festival, which is South Asia's biggest LGBTQ film festival. Her main aim is to show the community in its true light and to work towards eradicating the discrimination it faces on the basis of gender and sexuality.
