John Harvey is founding principal of Global Philanthropy Services. He holds more than 20 years' professional experience in the advancement of effective global philanthropy. In his role as founding principal, John offers strategic, programmatic, facilitation and talent management support to foundations and non-profits globally. John's clients have included the McKnight Foundation, TSE Foundation, "la Caixa" Foundation, ARNOVA, Philanthropy Northwest, and WINGS. John is also founder of the Grantee Experience and Insight Review, a new global enterprise that advances foundation effectiveness through grantee-focused evaluation. From 2011 to 2013, John served as managing director for Global Philanthropy at the Council on Foundations. Prior, John served for ten years as founding executive director of Grantmakers Without Borders, now called EDGE Funders Alliance, and he co-founded New England International Donors. John serves on the editorial board of Alliance magazine and writes regularly for this journal. John played a leading role in coordinating the predecessor to this event, the Rockefeller Foundation's convening of "Talent Management for Innovative and Impactful Philanthropy in the 21st Century." John's current talent management work is focused on co-editing a book on talent management for Chinese philanthropy, commissioned by the China Foundation Centre (due in 2018).
