Melvin Henley

Organizational Development Consultant, Nonprofit Enterprise at Work (NEW), Detroit, Michigan, USA

Melvin Henley has a passion for communities and the inspiration they provide - both big and small. This passion has led him to support non-profit organizations and their leadership through capacity-building efforts such as facilitation and training sessions with organizational leadership covering topics such as governance, collaboration, and diversity, equity and inclusion amongst others. Currently, Henley is an organizational development consultant with NEW (Non-profit Enterprise at Work) working with nonprofits across southeastern Michigan. Other notable work includes managing the successful launch and being the project lead for the Champions for Change program and managing the visioning and engagement process of a UNESCO City of Design designation for the city of Detroit. In addition, Henley is also a strong advocate, supporter, and patron of the creative industries in all forms. His commitment to this sector and representation of diverse voices has led him to be a grant reviewer for several cities and state art agencies, along with the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). Hailing from Chicago, he holds a bachelor's degree in public relations from Drake University (Des Moines, IA) and a master's degree in arts and cultural management from Queen Margaret University (Edinburgh, UK).
