Pierre SCHORI is director general of Fundación para las Relaciones Internacionales y el Diálogo Exterior (FRIDE) in Madrid. Previously he served as the UN Secretary-General’s special representative for Côte d’Ivoire and has been a distinguished visiting professor at Adelphi University in New York since 2004. Mr. Schori has held numerous positions in the Swedish government including member of parliament; minister for international development cooperation; deputy minister for cooperation with central and eastern Europe; and deputy foreign minister. Mr. Schori served as a member of the European Parliament, where he was also the leader of the Swedish Social Democratic Group and spokesperson for the Socialist Group on foreign affairs. Mr. Schori was the Permanent Representative of Sweden to the United Nations. He received his M.A. from the University of Lund.
