Noha Adly

Deputy Head, ICT Sector, Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Alexandria, Egypt

Noha Adly serves as deputy head of the Information and Technology (ICT) sector at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA). As the Revival of the Library of Alexandria project dawned in the nineties, Dr. Adly joined the Bibliotheca Alexandrina in 1997 as a consultant for the design and installation of its information system. Since 2001, she has been responsible for the BA's overall information and communication technology strategy, architecting its data policies and systems, prioritizing projects implementation, and managing the Library's network infrastructure. Dr. Adly oversees projects and endeavors related to the creation of searchable documentary digital archives and repositories which encompass cultural preservation as well as science-oriented projects, using state-of-the-art technologies that aim at providing access to knowledge to all, online for free.

Dr. Adly is an active member of many international entities. She is a member of the steering committee of the Reseau Francophone Numerique (RFN), represents the BA in the Digital Library Federation (DLF), and is the co-chair of the Technical Architecture Working Group of the World Digital Library (WDL).

Dr. Adly is also a professor in the Computer and Systems Engineering department, Faculty of Engineering, Alexandria University. In addition to Digital Libraries, Dr. Adly's main interests are distributed systems, Database Systems, Operating Systems, Data Management in Mobile Computing, Modeling and Simulation.
