Molly Broad

Molly Corbett BROAD, USA Molly Corbett Broad is the president of the sixteen-campus University of North Carolina (UNC), which encompasses all of the state's public institutions that grant baccalaureate degrees, along with affiliated enterprises that advance the mission of the University, including the UNC Center for Public Television and the UNC Health Care System. In this capacity, she is responsible for managing the affairs and executing the policies of the University and for representing the University to the North Carolina General Assembly, state officials, the federal government, and other key University constituencies. Before joining UNC, Ms. Broad served as executive vice chancellor and chief operating officer in the California State University system. Prior to that, she was chief executive officer for the Arizona University System. Ms. Broad serves on the board of numerous professional and civic organizations and is past president of the International Council for Distance Education. Ms. Broad holds an M.Sc. in economics from Ohio State University. She served on the faculty of Salzburg Seminar Session 411, The Cultural, Civic, and Economic Purposes of Higher Education, in 2003; and attended the second symposium of the Russian Higher Education Program, University Strategic Planning in a Context of Regionalization of Russian Higher Education (A Session on Strategic Planning Best Practices), in 2003.
