Mary Story

Professor in Global Health and Family Medicine and Community Health, Duke University, USA

Mary Story is a professor in global health and family medicine and community health at Duke University. Prior to coming to Duke in January 2014, she was senior associate dean for academic and student affairs and professor in the Division of Epidemiology and Community Health in the School of Public Health, University of Minnesota. Since 2005, she has directed the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation national program Healthy Eating Research focused on policy-relevant solutions to prevent child obesity and improve nutrition, especially youth from low income and minority communities in the USA. Her Ph.D. is in nutrition science and her research focuses primarily on obesity prevention and nutrition in low-income and minority youth and their families. She has nearly 500 scientific publications in the area of child and adolescent nutrition and obesity. In 2010, she was elected to the National Academy of Medicine.
